"If you don't like someone's story, write your own." - Chinua Achebe

This is how and why Sawa Sawa Trust began in 2011. The founder Susanna Ureni, moved to Kenya to work in a farm didn’t like at all the condition of some orphanages. Having a background in studies and experience in International Cooperation despite her different job she started, in her free time, to support the community around Gilgil. In 2013 when the supporters increased together with contributions, she felt the need to be more transparent and she founded Sawa Sawa OdV (duly registered in RUNTS), an Italian association specifically aiming to raise funds for the Kenyan projects. After several micro projects in Kenya, she was ready to write her own story focusing on building a children’s house. Thanks to many friends and passionate supporters as well as the funds received from the 8×1000 of Waldensian Church in 2014 a land was bought, and the construction of a building began. Today “Sawa House” has several children permanently resident, an informal kindergarten to reintegrate out-of-school children into formal education and it is hosting training courses for women and young.
